So, my mom recently started the T25 workout series, and much to my dismay, she’s actually consistently jumping around and doing her routines every morning. She claims it will be life changing and she’ll have a six-pack by April – I’ll keep you informed on her ab progress. But she claims the short, high energy 25 minutes workouts make it easier for her to workout in the morning and gives her inspiration to eat healthier (or somewhat healthier, she did just buy ice cream.)
With my mom’s excitement over this new form of working out, I thought I’ll put together a list of the best-reviewed workout DVD’s to try. Remember, bikini bodies come in the winter!
Time: 25 minutes
Workout: T25 is broken down into two types of workouts – the alpha cycle and the beta cycle. The alpha cycle focuses on targeted body areas at a time, like cardio, abs, and lower body. After five weeks of the alpha cycle, you move onto the beta cycle – which is basically the alpha cycle on steroids.
Duration: 10 weeks with workouts; five days a week
Equipment Needed: TV, DVD player, tennis shoes, resistance bands, dumbbells, yoga mat
Time: 30 minutes
Workout: Insanity involves a lot of cardio, jumping and moving around to burn the most fat on your body possible. It’s similar to T25 (same founder) but is just a bit more hardcore.
Duration: 10 weeks with workouts; six days a week
Equipment Needed: TV, DVD player, tennis shoes
Time: 45 to 60 minutes
Workout: P90X focuses on all aspects of the body during the course. You will work your chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs, triceps, biceps, and the core with movements like yoga, stretching, and cardio.
Duration: 90 days with workouts; six days a week
Equipment Needed: TV, DVD player, tennis shoes, resistance bands, dumbbells, pull-up bar
Time: 20 to 60 minutes
Workout: The Zumba workout is a combination of Latin dance moves and aerobic type exercises. The workout involves dance and aerobics movements, like hip-hop, salsa, squats, and lunges.
Duration: As often as you like
Equipment Needed: TV, DVD player, tennis shoes
Time: 20 to 45 minutes
Workout: PiYo combines Pilates, yoga, and cardio for a low-impact but high intensity total body workout.
Duration: 60 days with workouts; 6 days a week
Equipment Needed: TV, DVD player, tennis shoes, yoga mat
Coming up: look forward to my review and thoughts on T-25. I’ve tried three days already, and my abs are getting a workout just by laughing.
