Yup. You read that headline right. My new diet is a necklace. No, I’m not planning on eating a necklace, having it tear apart my insides resulting in a stomach pump, and wa-la, I’m 10 pounds lighter. But I’m talking about a necklace that let you know when you’re eating too much (kind of like an aggressive mom hovering over the dinner table.)
This new technology, called the WearSens (or diet-choker if you have a sense of humor) comes out of UCLA. It is said to monitor your eating habits and lets you know when you’re eating too much.
Sounds too good to be true, right?
This piece of jewelry has something called piezoelectric sensors that track the vibrations in your neck when you’re eating and drinking (some 50 Shades of Eating stuff right there for you!) If the vibrations continue for too long, the smartphone app with buzz to make you stop eating.
And if that sounds weird, it get’s even weirder. The sensors can even tellĀ what you’re eating. Because apparently “different types of foods creates different vibration patterns when traveling down the esophagus,” according to an article published in the Daily Mail.
But if you’re hoping to buy this just in time for bikini season, don’t get your hopes up. It still needs to be FDA approved.
